To be healthy a balanced diet is the first factor that has to be taken into consideration. A healthy body really does start with drinking enough water and eating a healthy diet full of foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals.

We?ve heard it over and over again, ?Eat your fruits and vegetables.? Yet over and over again we grab a processed food bar on our way out the door instead of grabbing an apple or banana. But the truth is, if we could learn to grab fresh fruit or raw vegetables for a snack and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables at meals, we would be much healthier and have more energy. Of course, that is easier said than done, but very much worth the effort.

We would have so much energy that we wouldn?t have to rely on caffeine to wake us up in the morning. And we wouldn?t be drawn to sugar for an energy boost throughout the day.

Recent dietary research has uncovered 14 different nutrient-dense foods, called superfoods that time and again promote good overall health. These include soy, berries, beans, nuts (especially walnuts), broccoli, green tea, oranges, spinach, turkey, whole grains, pumpkin, tomatoes, and oats.

Salmon is also on the list, but if you have asthma, salmon and all deep sea fish are off limits. These fish have a chemical in them called histamine which helps them survive in the cold waters of the deep but causes allergic reactions in many people, especially those with asthma.

A diet that is full of these items will help keep your system strong enough to fight diseases such as cancer. A health diet also helps hair, skin and teeth stay attractive and healthy, too.

There are many physical problems whose symptoms can be greatly reduced by eating a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables. Asthma, allergies, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue, circulatory diseases, and more can all be helped by including a large amount of fruits and vegetables in your daily diet.

If you or your family is feeling stressed, red meat can actually help calm everyone?s nerves. At the same time, stay away from caffeine, alcohol, and sugary foods. Stimulants and depressants like these can both zap your energy and rob you of the fuel you need to successfully cope with tension.
